"I've got a website. I'm all good on that front.” I've heard that before.... someone proudly shows me their company website .. a few minutes later I'm staring at a screen filled with broken links , crazy navigation, unintuitive layout and malware vulnerabilities. I might be able to make a few suggestions I hear myself saying as I forward onto my second page of notes.
Like all things, websites get old, they get slow, they get sick... and get dead!
If you're looking to improve business, a website redesign may be just what you need. Compared to other costs such as keeping open a physical store front or taking on employees, and other forms of advertising such as radio/bill boards, web design is extremely cost effective and can deliver extraordinary results.
If the answer to any of these key questions is yes, then it is time to begin planning your website redesign.
If you are not really sure what you are doing , updating a site can be very frustrating and a terrible drain on your time. By employing a specialist to update your site, for a relatively moderate fee, they can swiftly make the updates you want in the way you want with minimum downtime, allowing you to concentrate on running your business.
Alternatively if you would like to continue making updates on your own you can inquire about the possibility of having a CMS (content management system) installed which should simplify the update process for you.
Does your site contain all your recent services/products and pricing? Is your site still getting across the message you want? Is the branding on the site the same as offline? Are the pictures and videos current?
Some features may not be of use to you anymore as your business has changed. Often times something new and better is now on the market or even “fashion “ has changed leaving your site looking archaic. Whatever the reason, the bottom line is your users are going to suffer and as a result so will your business.
Is your site design out of date? One of the biggest issues here is whether your site is responsive. Today, people use many different devices to view the internet. A responsive site means it will adapt to any device the person is using such as phone, tablet, laptop etc, insuring the optimum viewing experience. You can find out about some more benefits of responsive design here.
Five seconds is the magic number for load time banded about in web design circles. If your site takes more than 5 seconds to load then your user will likely go elsewhere(probably to a competitor). A redesign will usually significantly improve load speed as unnecessary elements are removed, and old ones are updated.
There could be a number of reasons you are not getting the leads you expect from your website including:
